DIGITAL CRIME FIGHTER

A NEW WEAPON FOR THE GOOD SIDE

CLARITY

ABOVE ALL

The long overdue overhaul of the USPIS.gov website was not just a refresh, not just a redesign. It was actually an effort to improve the organization’s ability to fight crime. Postal Inspectors have the widest jurisdiction of any Law Enforcement Agency (FBI, DEA, IRS, state and local Police). With such a large purview of different crimes, and over 80% of cases coming through citizens’ tips, it was of utmost importance that the leads people provide are clear and actionable. All functions and decisions around the website were in service of this goal.

We also gave new life to the agency’s social channels for outreach, education and of course, gathering information from citizens. It’s not new that they use Twitter and Facebook, but it is new that people could respond and be taken directly to a “Report a Crime” section of the website. Here, each lead is carefully funneled to the right Postal Inspector.
