THE POSTAGE EVOLUTION
The postage stamp has not evolved, technologically, since 1973. That’s when USPS introduced sticker stamps that you don’t need to lick. Otherwise, it is unchanged.
And that’s fine. Unless you don’t have one. Or don’t know how many you need. Or can’t spare the time going to the post office. So we invented this voice stamp system instead to work with our Smart Blue Collection box.
THE WHOLE POST
OFFICE IN A BOX
How? We identified that most Post Office transactions require simply two things: customer service and a scale. So we built that. Working with Industrial Design Firm LeadOff Studio, we designed it to fit on top of the 150,000+ blue collection boxes across the USA.
“HELLO BLUE BOX”
This phrase starts the conversation between the cloud-based A.I. and the customer. Customers ask questions, get answers, the box does too. Then the built-in scale leads to the rest of the transaction, followed by payment via text.
The only missing element was physical postage mark on the box or envelope. The postal sorting machines look for visual proof of postage. That’s where Voice Stamp comes in. We use the return address and destination address to identify the box or envelope. Then the database tells the sorting machine that yes, this piece is paid for.
The prototype is awaiting its green light to develop further, but already holds two US Patents-pending. The blue box physical unit is simply an iteration of the platform. We created the AI that powers it, bespoke to USPS. Blue Box AI is currently informing customer services such as chats, self-service tools and in Amazon skills.
