FOR THE PLATFORM
When major disaster strikes a community, USPS is often a first responder, delivering vital medication, insurance, paychecks and supplies. But when the wildfires hit Chico, CA in 2018, we had the opportunity (and ability) to do more. We had just launched the Operation Santa platform just one year prior.

AND PAPER
For all the kids who didn’t have a home for Santa to visit, we had a solution. They simply had to write to Santa so we can upload them to Operation Santa website (where we knew every letter would be adopted). We created thousands of letter kits that included blank pieces of paper, an envelope, and a stamp, then delivered them to shelters.
We printed and assembled 1,000 Letter Writing Kits and sent them overnight to Chico
Kits were made available at Post Offices where newly homeless families came to get their mail.
Mail carriers also delivered kits directly to shelters along their usual delivery routes.
